“It is unique in the construction industry to find someone who can not only renovate a building, but do it with artistic flair. Dan Marynissen at Artisan Construction does beautiful work. And there’s no need to bring anyone else in because he’s not only a skilled carpenter – he’s also a designer, and he takes care of the plumbing, electrical and roofing as well. We are extremely pleased with the work he’s done on our cottage and would recommend him to anyone looking for a contractor with an artistic eye.”

Artisan Construction has been our contractor on several different projects.  The largest project was our new home on Georgian Bay which was a very comprehensive renovation project with an addition.  The finishing details were very “high end” and we were completely impressed by the quality of workmanship and timeliness.  More recently, Artisan Construction built on new cottage on an island on Georgian Bay.  This was a unique project in that it involved dismantling a log home that was on mainland and relocating it to an island on Georgian Bay.  The project required a lot of co-ordination of varous sub-trades.  It was astounding how they managed to dismantle the log home barge it to an island and reconstruct it within three weeks.  The owner of Artisan Construction, Dan Marynissen, treated our project as if it was his own … that is what you want in a contractor.

"In August 2013, my wife and I retained Artisan Construction to construct a 26'X30' garage and to renovate parts of the interior of our cottage near Parry Sound. We knew very little about the planning, approval, costing or construction. We knew that we needed to choose our contractor carefully as we would be trusting him with all aspects of the projects. After several inquiries of local professionals, we were introduced to Dan Marynissen and Artisan Construction. Dan patiently explained the component parts of the projects: planning, materials, engineering, excavation, electrical, permits, and cost. He recommended a time plus materials approach in which all components including sub contractor costs, were separately estimated and contracted. He identified which of the cost estimates and time-to-complete estimates could vary, and why. Dan coordinated the sub contractors and kept us apprised of progress through emails, digital photographs and meetings. When costs or timing varied as a result of weather, delivery delays or subsurface conditions at the site, we were informed by email or telephone immediately; we were never surprised. When our design ideas were unrealistic or lead to inefficiencies or potential cost increases, Dan alerted us and proposed alternatives. The Artisan team was reliable, skilled, trustworthy and friendly. We had no concerns leaving our cottage investment in Dan's care. The work sites were kept extremely clean and Artisan planned construction so that we were able to use the cottage as much as possible. The end product made us very happy in all respects. Minor modifications were completed immediately. We are planning an addition to our cottage in 2014 and have asked Artisan to include our next project in their 2014 schedule.
